  13. If you have or are planning to purchase the Emplant MAC Emulation
  14. Professional from UUI, Inc. I'd hold off. The initial release which
  15. I received yesterday is VERY unstable. I've encountered the following
  16. problems:

  18. 1) Memory configuration. In the last 5.5 release of Emplant the
  19.    memory configuration would automatically adjust itself lower
  20.    if you later choose an option in the initial setup such as
  21.    video, etc. Therefore in that version (5.5) I would select the
  22.    highest amount of RAM and then continue my setup procedures.
  23.    As I went thru and configured things that needed RAM buffers
  24.    the memory pool allocated for the MAC would decrease. Mac Pro
  25.    does not do this and will often start up without opening the
  26.    MAC's screen - why? Cause apparantly not RAM is allocated for
  27.    the screen so it runs the Mac without video and with NO error
  28.    or warning!

  30. 2) The program is unstable. Several drop down gadgets froze the
  31.    program and crashed my Amiga. This was in the disk drive control
  32.    panel for the top most drive selection.

  34. 3) The program has managed to crash so badly when I selected to
  35.    use Virtual memory that a 300 MB disk partition had to be
  36.    revalidated. Fortunately I did not loose anything yet or at
  37.    least not that I can see. I've had several programs do this
  38.    to me in the past and they quickly found themselves on a 5 MB
  39.    or less partition of their own. As this one will shortly.

  42. If you have found more bugs let me know. If you have not bought
  43. this I would wait. It does not look good. Especially since NO
  44. new DOCS hard or soft copies were shipped out with the disk and
  45. new "dongle" chip.

  47. If you know of other bugs let me know. I'd like to start to compile
  48. a new list! The installer does not replace the old 5.5 Mac which
  49. might be good or bad. I wish the install had done that to make things
  50. cleaner!
